Quick summary

When creating a new site using the Assembler, users land in the Site Editor. First-time users will see a Welcome Guide module. There is a link in the module that says "Watch these short videos↗ and take this tour to get started." There are no videos in the link; the user is redirected to the launchpad.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Create a new site from wordpress.com/start using the theme assembler.
  2. After the site is created, you should be taken to the editor. (If not, you can access the site Editor by going to Appearance > Editor).
  3. The first time you see the editor, you should see a Welcome Guide (If the Welcome guide is not showing, click the 3 dots in the upper right and select "Welcome Guide" to display the welcome guide.)
  4. The first part of the module has the link to the videos. The link is going to the launchpad.

What you expected to happen

I would expect the link saying "Watch these short videos" to take me somewhere where I can see videos.

What actually happened

I was taken to the launchpad where I could launch my site. There are no videos on this page.

I could not replicate this, as I the "Welcome Guide is not showing for me". That being said, I am going to lower the priority slightly

@emilyaudela Hello. Did you happen to see the note above? Can you tell us if you are still able to replicate this or if we should close it?

I am still able to replicate the issue. This seems to only show up when you use the pattern assembler to create your own theme.

Here are the steps to reproduce:

  1. Create a new site starting at wordpress.com/start
  2. After selecting domain name and passing the goals page, select the pattern assembler (instead of selecting a theme).
  3. Use the assembler to add sections to the website.
  4. Pass the styles and colors section.
  5. On the launchpad, click skip in the upper corner.
  6. This takes you to the Site Editor.
  7. One you click into the Editor for the first time, the tour module opens.
(If the Welcome guide is not showing, click the 3 dots in the upper right and select "Welcome Guide" to display the welcome guide.)
