Can't figure out tokens

I really would like to download images of a pixelfed account, but I don't understand the part with the access token?
Is an account on Pixelfed necessary?

To get a token, yes an account is needed.

Could you please give more information on how to configure this software with a token?

• Which format should it be? Must it be an ini config, yaml formatting, etc.? Only copy it without formatting and without variables into secret.txt?
• Does any fediverse tool work (Mastodon, Pleroma, Firefish, etc.) or must it be Pixelfed? Or should it even be pix.toot.wales to work at all?

I only tested it with pix.toot.wales. secret.txt should only contain the access token.

Hm, can you try the setup out? My description might not be the best. If you can make it work, I appreciate it if you could write the setup guide in a way that sou would like it better.

In any case, you can describe here what you did and I might be able to help you further.
