As the heading explains the links for download of ExManCmd for Mac downloads a dmg that has the file ExManBridgeTalkCmd missing. Please provide the file or suggest how to move ahead

Hi @Manan-Joshi,

This raises several questions. First, some background:

In ExManCmd 7.8 the BridgeTalk component was getting quarantined by Mac OS Catalina. This was rectified later, by ExManCmd 7.9.

We're now up to ExManCmd 7.10, with 7.11 on the horizon. Which version of ExManCmd are you using? (Instructions for finding the version on the guide above).

Part of the delay internally on that quarantine issue was that ExManBridgeTalkCmd was EOL’ed, and finding someone to fix the component was a challenge.

How are you using the ExManBridgeTalkCmd file? I'm interested in hearing about your use case in as much detail as you're willing to share. Please be sure to mention the operating system(s) you're targeting, and Creative Cloud products and version numbers (for example, "Photoshop 2020, 21.2").

Hi, this issue was opened by Manan-Joshi on my behalf from a topic on the Adobe Help forum. Here's some more details...

I am trying to install an extension to After Effects 16.1 on Mac Catalina 10.15 using the command-line. These are the instructions I am trying to follow:

https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/installingextensionsandaddons.html#Install_extensions_comm...

After downloading the ExManCmd tool, you are supposed to copy the Contents folder to the Desktop. Then, in Terminal, you enter this command:

xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine Desktop/Contents/MacOS/ExManBridgeTalkCmd

The problem is, the Contents folder does not contain the file 'ExManBridgeTalkCmd'.

I followed these same steps earlier this year and the Contents folder DID have that file in it...so it must have been a previous version. Looks like the version provided by Adobe is 7.10.019 and was updated June 9.

Hi @marybushey,

You do not need to run the xattr command at all anymore, since ExManCmd has been updated from 7.8 to 7.10.

I'll update my guide to say as much.

If you keep having trouble installing the plugin, ask the user to contact [email protected].

@ErinFinnegan I tried skipping that step, but it didn't work. The next step is to double click the ExManCmd executable and without the quarantine step I get a warning "ExManCmd can't be opened because the identity of the developer cannot be confirmed". I was able to get around this easily, but then when I get through to the final step the Terminal throws a few ExManCmd errors...

You can share the ExManCmd error codes here...

The identity error could be because the Adobe ID of the user needs to match that of the user signed in to the Exchange when you download a .zxp file.

Have you already tried third party solutions like Anastasiy's Extension Manager?

If you must only use ExManCmd, here's how to share the log files.

@ErinFinnegan thanks for looking into this. Although I am not the one having this issue, however I have a quick question for you

  • Is the ExManBridgeTalkCmd file needed now or not? If it is then how do we get it as the 7.10 download does not have it.
  • If it is not to be used then it would be helpful to update the instructions to avoid confusions. I create my own installers or use things like ZXPInstaller and have so far not migrated on to Catalina so I can't add more inputs to this issue.
